The Township of Teaneck, with the help of the Teaneck Board of Education & Teaneck Historic Preservation Commission, will commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Public School District’s historic decision to voluntarily integrate its schools by placing a marker at the William Cullen Bryant School, 1 East Tryon Avenue.
The ceremony, to be held at 6:00 pm on September 18, 2024 at the Bryant School, brings together community leaders, activists and former students who took part in the controversial and groundbreaking plan.
The marker, to be placed on the school’s property, tells the story of the Board of Education’s efforts in the early 1960’s to create an integrated environment for Teaneck’s school students.
